Emmy's 2014 Nominations Announced: 'Game of Thrones,' 'Fargo' Lead

The 66th Emmy Awards nominees announcement arrived on Thursday, July 10 putting "Game of Thrones" and "Fargo" at the top.

"GOT" led the pack with an astonishing 19 nominations this year, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Lena Headey. Trailing just behind the HBO series is the new television show "Fargo," which earned 18 Emmy nominations, including Billy Bob Thornton's bid to win Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie.

Next up for leading nominations at the 66th Annual Emmy Awards is "Saturday Night Live" with 14 nods. "12 Years A Slave" and Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor earned an Emmy nod for "Dancing on the Edge," while Matt Bomer snagged his first nomination for "The Normal Heart."

Netflix televisions series also received several nods this year, despite being only online. "House of Cards" took home multiple nominations, including Robin Wright for Outstanding Lead Actress and her co-star Kevin Spacey for lead actor. "Orange Is The New Black" also shined with 12 Emmy nods, threatening longtime Best Comedy Series winner "Modern Family" for the title this year. Netflix documentaries "The Square" and "Brave Miss World" as well as Ricky Gervais' sitcom "Derek" completed the nominations for the streaming service.

Other television series that received honors included "True Detective," "Breaking Bad," "Mad Men," "The Big Bang Theory," "Girls," and "Modern Family," among many others. Reality series such as "The Amazing Race" and "Dancing With The Stars" also received nominations this year.

Robin Wright is up against powerful leading ladies for Outstanding Lead Actress including "Downton Abbey's" Michelle Dockery, Kerry Washington, Julianna Marguiles, Lizzy Caplan, and Claire Danes. Alternately, Kevin Spacey is in the running for Outstanding Lead Actor against Bryan Cranston, Jon Hamm, Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, and Jeff Daniels.

"The Mindy Project" star Mindy Kaling and "The Voice" host Carson Daly announced the nominees live. See the full list of nominations here. The awards show airs live on NBC on Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. EST.
