Eva Mendes has spoken about a shock collar incident, saying that she tried on a shock collar and tested it out on herself before would dare try it on her dog.

Mendes made the admission on "The Late Show With David Letterman" recently, when she spoke about a shock collar incident.

She explained that she purchased a remote controlled shock collar for her Belgian Malinois Hugo, as she wanted to make sure that her dog was trained and would not attack another dog. However, she was apprehensive and admitted that she had no idea how much shock would hurt the dog.

So Mendes decided to put the shock collar on herself - not around her neck, but just around her arm - to try it out.

The actress explained that she tried the shock collar out on herself at every level setting to make sure it wouldn't hurt too badly once she was using it on the dog.

Mendes was in fact raised a Roman Catholic and when she was younger aspired to be a nun. She attended Hoover High School in Glendale and later attended California State University, Northridge to study marketing, but dropped out after wanting to begin an acting career.

She broke into the Hollywood mainstream with an appearance in Training Day (2001). She has since starred in many films including All About The Benjamins (2002); 2 Fast 2 Furious, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Out of Time and Stuck on You (2003); Hitch (2005); Ghost Rider and We Own the Night (both 2007); The Spirit (2008); The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009); The Other Guys and Last Night (both 2010), Girl in Progress (2012).
