'Fargo' Season 3 Cast News, Update: 'Big Fish' Actor Joins Latest Installment
A new and exciting casting update for the third season of FX's hit crime drama TV series "Fargo" arrives this week and it indicates that actor Ewan McGregor will be joining the fray to play not just one but two characters in the anthology's latest installment.
According to Variety, the "Big Fish" star will portray both the parts of the brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. As described by the publication, Emmit is the "parking-lot king of Minnesota, a handsome and successful real-estate mogul." The other sibling, on the other hand, is a "pot-bellied, balding parole officer who peaked in high school and blames his brother for his misfortunes."
The latest season will reportedly commence production later this year just in time for its premiere on FX in 2017.

For the uninitiated, Season 1 of the show is set in 2006 which stars Martin Freeman opposite Billy Bob Thornton as Lester Nygaard and Lrone Malvo, respectively. The season is said to have direct ties to the Oscar-winning 1996 movie from the Coen brothers (Joel and Ethan Coen) where the whole FX series was based from. Season 2, meanwhile, follows the story of the couple Ed and Peggy Blumquist (Kirsten Dunst). It is said to be the prequel of Season 1. This time around, the show will skip ahead in time to 2010 to reveal the story of the Stussy brothers.
Not much has been known about Season 3 but network executive John Landgraf said in this year's Television Critics Association winter press tour that a Season 1 character will be making a comeback. However, it is up to series creator and executive producer Noah Hawley to decide if the part will be reprised by the same actor.
"As far as I know, there is one [character returning]," he told EW. "That doesn't mean [Hawley] might not change his mind and there might not be more."
