'Fargo' Season 3 News: Third Season To Have 2010 Setting; At Least One Character To Return
Details about the upcoming third season of the cult favorite black comedy/crime drama anthology "Fargo" are starting to emerge.
First, FX Network President and General Manager John Landgraf revealed that they have confirmed that the series will pick up some four years after Season 2. "The third cycle will take place in 2010, not quite contemporary, but quite recent," the FX boss told E! News at last week's Television Critics Association's 2016 Winter Press Tour. Landgraf also reiterated Fargo creator Noah Hawley's previous comment that the new season won't air until 2017.
Second, the FX chief dropped a major hint about the forthcoming season's cast. When asked if any of the characters from the previous seasons will be returning for Season 3, Landgraf told Entertainment Weekly, "As far as I know there's one [existing character]…"

"That doesn't mean [Hawley] might not change his mind, or there might be more than one," he added.
Meanwhile, when asked the same question, according to another Entertainment Weekly report, Hawley answered, "Potentially."
"Fargo" Seasons 1 and 2 had entirely different sets of characters and cast members, though one character (Lou Solverson) did appear in both seasons. Keith Carradine played the part in Season 1 and Patrick Wilson took on the role in Season 2. Could Solverson reappear in Season 3?
Third, for "Fargo" fans left wondering about the UFOs featured in Season 2, Landgraf said that "random acts of God or unexplained extraordinary phenomenon" and "our smallness in the face of the universe" are part of what the Emmy-winning series is all about.
In December, writer-producer Hawley talked to EW about the upcoming season and revealed that there will be connections between Season 3 and the previous seasons, just like there were connections between the first season and the movie, and between the first and second seasons. "But I think part of the fun is figuring that stuff out and I wouldn't want to take that away from anybody," the "Fargo" boss said.
"Fargo" Season 3 is expected to air in 2017.
