'Fast & Furious 8' Cast News, Update: 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Actress Joins Film Series as Villain
The upcoming eighth installment to the hit action film series franchise, "The Fast and The Furious," welcomes yet another big name into its roster.
This week, the official FF Twitter account officially announced that the franchise has enlisted South African actress Charlize Theron to portray the part of a villain in the sequel to 2015's "Furious 7."

The announcement, however, failed to provide a much clearer insight in the nature of Theron's character. Nonetheless, observers can quickly assess that the "Italian Job" star appears well dressed in the picture, refined, and business-like. Speculations indicated that the yet to be revealed big bad will likely to have a connection with Kurt Russell's enigmatic Mr. Nobody in F7.
Regardless of who this character turns out to be, the movie is right to sign in the 40-year-old actress and model. Aside from her track records playing villains in films like "Prometheus" and the "Huntsman," she also is no stranger to high-octane road action as evident in her latest involvement with last year's critically-acclaimed "Mad Max: Fury Road" where she plays the character of Imperator Furiosa.
Slashfilm.com, meanwhile added that Theron's character will have at least one evil partner. This new name will reportedly hail from HBO's hit fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones." As detailed by the media outlet, Kristofer Hivju has been recruited to also play a villainous part in "Fast 8."
Citing their sources, it is said that Hivju will play "a tough henchman," perhaps a right hand-man to Theron's baddie.
"Fast 8" will reportedly see the return of Vin Diesel's Dom Torreto, Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs, Michelle Rodriguez's Letty, Tyrese Gibson's Roman Pearce, Ludacris' Tej Parker, Eva Mendes' Monica Fuentes, and Kurt Russell's aforementioned alter-ego, just to name a few.
The action will now take place in New York but will also feature some actions filmed in Iceland and in some parts of Atlanta. The upcoming movie will also mark the absence of late franchise star, Paul Walker, who starred as the fan-favorite Brian O'Conner since "Tokyo Drift."
Film hits the theaters on April 14, 2017.
