'Fear The Walking Dead' Season 2 News, Spoilers: EP Addresses Crossover Speculation; Says 'Zombies Don't Drown'
A crossover between "Fear the Walking Dead" and "The Walking Dead" may be too difficult to execute, the former's executive producer has revealed.
Rumors that "Fear the Walking Dead," the spin-off/prequel of AMC's popular zombie apocalypse series "The Walking Dead," could someday cross over with the original have been swirling since "FTWD" debuted.
But while fans of both zombie series think that they may someday see Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) in the same frame as Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Nick (Frank Dillane), "FTWD" executive producer Dave Erickson says that the two groups colliding is not as inevitable as it seems.

Speaking from the show's panel at PaleyFest L.A. on Saturday, March 19, Erickson said, as quoted by Variety, "The chronology is so far apart, and there's a continent between them."
According to the "FTWD" boss, it "would be difficult" to connect the two, at least for now.
Meanwhile, just because the ragtag bunch of survivors in "Fear the Walking Dead" are taking refuge on a yacht out at sea doesn't mean that they are safe from walkers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "FTWD" producers shared two clips from the show's season 2 premiere during the panel. The second clip, which will not be released to the wider public, reportedly showed Nick about to be attacked by a zombie in the water.
"Zombies don't drown; they keep floating back up," Erickson said (via THR).
"Zombies can't swim," he explained (via Entertainment Weekly). "They can wade. That's something we experimented with when we shot the first episode. We've figured out the best ways to shoot water zombies."
Apart from zombies, the "FTWD" group will also have to deal with their fellow survivors. "There's going to be threats, obstacles, and conflicts on sea as well as on land," Erickson said at the panel.
"Fear The Walking Dead" premieres its second season on April 10 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
