'Fear The Walking Dead' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Showrunner On Strand Cutting The Flight 462 Survivors Loose, Upcoming Episode
In the previous episode of AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead," the survivors chanced upon the wreckage of Flight 462, the commercial airliner featured in the webseries "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462." The webseries, which was released in one-minute episodes, followed the passengers on Flight 462 as an infected passenger boarded the plane and spread the infection onboard.
In "Ouroboros," the "FTWD" group of survivors spotted the plane's wreckage and went to investigate and to hopefully gather supplies. While Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) found himself in deep trouble after wandering off alone, Nick (Frank Dillane) discovered that covering himself in zombie blood was the perfect camouflage against the walkers. During their trip to the downed plane, the group found two Flight 462 survivors and promised them that they would be towed back to San Diego.
Michelle Ang, who played the character called Charlie in the webseries, reprised her role (this time, called Alex) in the "Ouroboros" episode of "Fear the Walking Dead." But while fans of the webseries may have been delighted to find Charlie/Alex joining the cast of "FTWD," their joy was shortlived, as Strand (Colman Domingo) put his foot down and cut the lifeline to the Flight 462 survivors.

According to showrunner Dave Erickson, Strand cut the survivors loose because he feared the power shifting to Travis (Cliff Curtis), Madison (Kim Dickens) and the rest, and that it might only be a matter of time before the survivors declared a mutiny.
His actions put Madison, who was also seen negotiating with Strand about letting all the passengers stay in his fortified residence in Baja, in "an interesting position." While she wanted the Flight 462 survivors to get to San Diego safely, she also didn't want to compromise the deal she had brokered with Strand.
As for how the events in the previous episode will affect those in the next, Erickson told Entertainment Weekly, "Next week the tension on the boat is heightened because of what Strand just did."
"Madison and Travis are desperately trying to figure out what's the best play, and just as they're about to make that decision, they're interrupted by something tragic, and horrible, and violent," he said. "So there's going to be a big shift next episode, which is going to redirect everyone's attention. It's going to be good."
