'Five Nights at Freddy's' Latest News: Film to Get New Storyline, Use Real Animatronics (VIDEO)

"Five Nights at Freddy's" film director Gil Kenan will be using a totally different storyline from the game, as well as real animatronics.

Four months after Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the rights to the film adaptation of the "Five Night's at Freddy's" video game series, news has emerged the movie will be diverging from the original storyline and incorporating actual animatronics.

The successful indie horror video game by American game designer Scott Cawthon has received even more attention ever since Warner Bros. announced in April it would be making a film adaptation.

The movie, set to be produced by Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg, and Roy Lee, recently signed "Monster House" helmsman Gil Kenan, who is also doing the "Poltergeist" reboot, to direct the film adaptation based on a screenplay he will co-write with Tyler Burton Smith.

While the film will be presenting the same premise as the point-and-click video game, it will tell an original story altogether, and feature full-sized animatronic animals designed and provided by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

Tweets and Instagram posts from Kenan hint at multiple locations and the liberal use of animatronics, instead of CGI effects as earlier presumed. He has also posted several images of the animatronic characters the film will be including.

With the large following the games have acquired, Kenan has tweeted there may be a possibility of sequels. The amount of fan interest Kenan's Twitter feed has amassed points out to the enormous expectations "FNAF" fans have vested in the movie adaptation of their favorite horror video game.

While "Five Nights at Freddy's" film version hasn't been given a release date yet, it is expected to debut in theaters by 2017 at the latest.
