'Fortnite' Battle Royale Bans Thousands Of Players

"Fortnite" developer Epic Games is intensifying its battle against cheating by banning thousands of players from its new Battle Royale Mode. According to Epic, tackling in-game cheating is currently "the highest priority" and they will not hesitate to ban more cheaters.

Community Co-Ordinator Nathan Mooney assured players that they will be going after not just the cheaters but the cheat providers as well. They are currently exploring every measure to ensure these cheaters are removed and stay removed from the game as well as the entire Epic ecosystem.

"We don't want to give too many clues about what we're doing, but we are rolling out tools and will continue to do so," said Mooney. "Thousands have been banned and we have no plans to stop!"

Epic has not yet revealed what measures it's going to take so as to not tip off everyone. However given the recent punishments that were imposed on cheaters, it's safe to say they will not tolerate any more unscrupulous activity.

In addition to banning cheaters, Epic is also planning to roll out progression rewards. The rewards are meant to discourage players from cheating as well as incentivize honest gameplay.

Despite banning thousands of players, "Fortnite" and its Battle Royale mode might not suffer a steep drop in gameplay. Both games recently topped 7 million players overall and that number is steadily rising. Losing thousands of dishonest players is a much better decision that to continue tolerating cheaters and risk ruining the experience for other gamers.

Also, Epic Games has more pressing issues to contend with its new Battle Royale mode and "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" developer Bluehole. Bluehole has accused Epic of creating a "carbon copy" of PUBG is threatening action against them. So far, however, the developer has yet to deliver on those threats.

"Fortnite" and its Battle Royale mode are currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Mac, and Microsoft Windows.
