Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Samsung Phone to Launch Dec. 8 With Verizon as Exclusive Carrier?
As impatient smartphone users in the United States await the national launch of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus Prime, rumors about which networks will ultimately end up offering the phone abound. There is also a buzz that the phone will launch in early December.
Originally, it was estimated by experts that three carriers will make the new smartphone available: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. But a viral recent rumor has it that Verizon might get exclusivity for servicing Galaxy Nexus owners for the rest of 2011, according to Southern Daily Press.
The publication's tech section pointed out that "the official page for Nexus on Google is hinting that there will still be limited exclusivity."

Other networks are generally expected to receive the phones by 2012, although UnwiredView.com, a tech website, suggests that will happen by Dec. 8, based on viral insider rumors.
The highly expected smartphone was launched in the United Kingdom on Nov. 17. The phone started off there by being offered by only one major retailer, Phones4U. The smartphone reportedly comes with a £41 ($65) and up monthly plan with a free handset. Phones4U is also reportedly offering a £250 ($394) voucher for the first 100 purchases for movies and music.
The new device features the brand new Android platform with a redesigned user interface, which is to allow better multitasking and more attractive visuals, according to Samsung.
The phone features a 4.65-inch HD Super Amoled Touchscreen with a 720-pixel resolution. The large vivid display is supposed to make viewing videos and playing games easier and more pleasant. Galaxy Nexus also features a dual-core 1.2GHz CPU processor which reportedly makes the handset speedier. It works with HSPA+ that allows high speed web browsing, Samsung said.
Another exciting feature is the 5-megapixel low light optimized camera which records video at 1080-pixel and introduces a new time lapse video mode. In addition to that camera in the back, the Galaxy Nexus also features a front facing 1.3 Megapixel camera allowing video chatting.
