'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 News: Kit Harington Squeals Jon Snow's Fate to Avoid Speeding Ticket
"Game of Thrones" star Kit Harington used his character's fate in the popular HBO fantasy drama series to get out of a speeding ticket.
In a recent appearance on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon," Harington recounted a hilarious incident that had him revealing Snow's fate to a complete stranger even as he was lying to everyone else - family, friends, and fellow "Game of Thrones" cast members - about whether or not his character stays dead in the show's new season.
The question of Snow's fate had haunted fans for almost a year after the season 5 finale showed the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch being betrayed and stabbed to death by his Sworn Brothers. In its final moments, the finale showed the Lord Commander bleeding out into the snow as the light seemingly flickered out of his eyes.
Avid "Thrones" fans spent the ensuing months debating over whether or not their beloved character had truly been killed.
In "Game of Thrones" Season 6 Episode 2, Snow was brought back to life by Melisandre (Carice van Houten), after which he had the men who betrayed him executed. He then broke his oath to the Night's Watch and left Castle Black for good.
Shortly after the second episode, in which his character was revived, Harington issued an apology to everyone he had to lie to in the months leading up to GOT Season 6's premiere.
As he revealed on The Tonight Show, it was only his parents and his girlfriend, former "Game of Thrones" co-actor Rose Leslie, who knew that he had not been fired and that Snow would be resurrected.
However, apart from them, there was one other person who knew that Snow would not stay a corpse for long. As Harington told Fallon, there was a policeman who knew about Snow's fate.
"I was driving back from my parents' house and I was driving too fast, I was just being a bit naughty," the actor recalled. "I was going over the speed limit and I feel the sirens go off behind me and this policeman comes up, pulls me over."
According to Harington, the officer gave him two choices. "You can either follow me back to the police station now and I book you in or you can tell me whether you live in the next series of 'Game of Thrones,'" Harington recounted.
Wanting to avoid a trip to the station, Harington told the police officer that Snow is alive in Season 6.
"And he goes, he says, 'Mmmhmm. On your way, Lord Commander,'" he said.
"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
