'Game of Thrones' Season 6 News, Spoilers: Kit Harington Explains His Presence on 'GoT' Set; Sansa '[Comes] into Her Own'

Actor Kit Harington, otherwise known as Jon Snow in HBO's "Game of Thrones," has reiterated that he only appears as a corpse in the show's highly anticipated sixth season, which debuts this month.

The fate of Snow, a fan favorite character, was left in question at the end of the season 5 finale, in which he was betrayed and stabbed by his Sworn Brothers on the Night's Watch. In the months between the season 5 ender and the upcoming season 6 premiere, "Game of Thrones" fans have continuously debated about whether or not Snow will be dead or alive when the new season rolls in. Some have suggested that he could somehow be resurrected by Melisandre (Carice van Houten) or that his spirit could inhabit the body of his trusted direwolf Ghost. Others have speculated that his paralyzed half-brother Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) could inhabit Snow's body and that though he is technically dead, viewers will continue to see Harington in the series.

But in all his public appearances in recent months, Harington has maintained that he is but a corpse in season 6.

In a recent appearance on "The Jonathan Ross Show," the actor explained his extended presence on the "Game of Thrones" set in Belfast, information that Snow fans have touted as proof that their beloved character is alive and well in the new season. "I was there for a little bit, I was there for about a month or two months, it was spread over a bit and I was playing a corpse," Harington told the host (via The Independent).

"I won't tell you how many episodes I'm lying dead but it's enough that I was out there for quite a while," he said. "It's going to be so satisfying when you see it and you realize that I was telling the truth the whole time."

Meanwhile, the creators of "Game of Thrones" have been dropping some major hints about another main character, Snow's half-sister Sansa, played by "X-Men: Apocalypse" actress Sophie Turner.

While Sansa has been on many fans least-favorite lists since the show's first season, the character has slowly and steadily evolved into a strong female presence and has even become a major player in the fictional world of Westeros.

As "Game of Thrones" executive producer Bryan Cogman recently told Entertainment Weekly, Turner is doing her best work to date in season 6.

"This is the season I'm most excited for," the actress said. "Sansa's coming into her own and standing up for herself."

"Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on April 24.
