'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Update: Bran Stark Returns, Barely Recognizable Features Of Actor Makes News
After his one-year absence from the screen, star of HBO's wildly popular fantasy drama TV series "Game of Thrones," Isaac Hempstead Wright is now returning to reprise his role as the second-youngest son of Ned Stark (Sean Bean), Bran.
Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly shared an exclusive first-look image of the young Stark in the upcoming Season 6 of the show and from the looks of it, the crippled boy from the North is all grown up.
The details further shown in the promo material reveal Bran sporting a short haircut. According to EW, the character is now around six feet tall. This could be bad news for Hodor (Kristian Nairn), the one-word speaking simpleton who dutifully carries and protects Bran since he lost the function of his legs back in Season 1.
In a more recent chat with the media outlet, the 16-year-old English actor revealed Bran's significant role in the upcoming season. Fans last saw the Warg-in-training arriving at the cave of the Three-Eyed Raven (now played by Max von Sydow). His goal then was to further tap into his special powers.
Wright told EW that viewers will find Bran's skills already at its finest, fully honed and developed. He compared what happened to his character to that of Star Wars' Luke Skywalker who went to Dagobah and trained under the guidance of Yoda.
But him coming back to the screen won't just be about showing off his abilities. According to what he said to EW, Bran will offer a clear view of what really happened in Westeros.
"Previously Bran's seen tiny glimpses of future or past but never has he been very much in control in the situation," he told the publication. "Now we're given looks into very important events in the past, present and future of this world and Bran is beginning to piece them together like a detective, almost as if he's watching the show."
Moreover, viewers will find out how crucial Bran's role is in the coming Great War.
"Game of Thrones" Season 6 premieres April 2016 on HBO.
