'Girl Meets World' Recap and Interview: 3 Reasons Why Maya and Riley's Friendship Is Stronger Than Ever
With Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) now exploring the depths of high school, there is a lot of question regarding how their friendship will continue.
The first few episodes of the hit Disney series "Girl Meets World" highlighted the complicated love triangle between Maya and Riley, since Lucas (Peyton Meyer) declared both of them as his girlfriend. Aside from that, the new system of high school makes if hard for the two of them to stay close. With that, fans has been seeing the dynamics of the two changing since they feel as though they abandoned each other.
A New Beginning for their Friendship
However, there is still a lot of hope for the two to continue their friendship. Since they have been best friends for a long time, many are hoping to see them overcome their challenges.
According to Michael Jacobs, the co-creator of the series, this season will show how high school will bring struggles to their friendship. He said, "I think there was a big shift between Year 1 and Year 2. I think there will be a bigger shift between Year 2 and Year 3 … I think high school is the most confusing, awful, terrible and ultimately -- if you do it right -- wonderful springboard into college and the rest of your life."
3 Reasons Why Riley and Maya's Friendship Is Stronger Than Ever
However, despite this, the two are still determined to keep their friendship strong. Below are reasons for why Riley and Maya's Friendship is Stronger Than Ever
1. They Keep Going Back to the Bay Window
The previous season teased the crumbling of Riley and Maya's friendship when Riley wanted to re-decorate the Bay Window. Fans are aware that the Bay Window is Riley and Maya's go-to place for everything. From gossips to tears, the Bay Window is a sacred place for their friendship. Despite the changes they go through, they still know that going back to the Bay Window will bring comfort to each other.
2. They Put Each Other First
Even though the two of them happen to date the same guy, there are able to set that aside and still keep being best friends. This shows that Riley and Maya are mature enough to know that fighting each other is not going to help the case. Either way, they can depend on each other.
3. There Is No Way They are Going to Let Cory and Shawn Win
Though the original series "Boy Meets World" showed the unbreakable bond between Cory and Shawn, it is for certain that Riley and Maya will not let Riley's father and his best friend claim the title for best friendship.
With that, fans can expect to see more on their friendship in the episodes to come.
