'Girl Meets World' Season 3 Spoilers, Plot Rumors: Love Triangle Threatens to End a Friendship?

With a third season on the way for the hit Disney channel series "Girl Meets World," fans can expect their favorite characters to face new challenges in high school.

It was revealed that Disney Channel has renewed the series "Girl Meets World," with it being the number 1 rated series for kids. In the statement, several hints for what the upcoming season could hold were released, revealing that Riley and Maya will soon be heading to high school.

The statement reads, "Girl Meets World" follows the everyday adventures of an unlikely duo, Riley and Maya — a curious and bright-eyed teenager and her bold best friend — who along with Farkle and Lucas, are navigating the ups and downs of life, all while trying to find their unique place in the world. Season Two tackled a variety of storylines that included autism, cyber-bullying and forgiveness. In Season Three, Riley and her best friends will begin a brand-new chapter as they enter high school."

Along with the challenges that they will face in high school, it seems as though the love triangle between Riley, Maya, and Lucas could take the center stage for the next season. Fans can expect that Riley and Maya's friendship will experience some bumpy roads as they try to work out their feelings for the same guy, Lucas.

However, the second season of "Girl Meets World" has yet to finish. The upcoming episode of "Girl Meets World" season 2 is expected to release this week, titled "Girl Meets STEM." It was revealed that the episode will show Riley upset because it seemed as though Farkle was being sexist. However, Topanga will be seen consoling the girls and telling them to be strong.

"Girl Meets World" season 2 episode 26 will air on Disney Channel on Jan. 8.
