'Girl Meets World' Trailer Released: Meet Daughter Riley (VIDEO)

Fans of "Boy Meets World" are rejoicing after seeing the new teaser-trailer for "Girl Meets World," the sequel series to the popular family show. It picks up years after "Boy Meets World" and features Ben Savage as Cory Matthews and Danielle Fishel as his wife, Topanga, along with their daughter Riley, played by Rowan Blanchard.

In the new series, Cory is a history teacher, which may make fans nostalgic for the beloved teacher Mr. Feeny, who mentored the students both in and out of the classroom. Now, it seems, Cory gets to be that teacher and will have his hands full with 13-year-old daughter Riley. In the trailer, Riley is seen trying to flee from her room through her bedroom window but is prevented from doing so by her father, which again may remind friends of the original series and Cory's antics when he was younger.

Topanga, ever the free-spirit, runs a trendy after-school hangout, allowing her the freedom to get to know her husband's students and form relationships with the children. It's something the younger Topanga would want to do, and it seems that the creators of "Girl Meets World" is remaining faithful to carrying out the storylines they imagine would perfectly fit the original cast members.

"'Girl Meets World' is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made 'Boy Meets World' so popular," executive producer Ben Jacobs said in the show's announcement last year.

Joining the cast of "Girl Meets World" are original cast members Less Norris, who played the all-knowing Minkus, Rider Strong, who was Cory's best friend Shawn, and William Daniels as mentor Mr. Feeny.

The new show is set to debut on the Disney Channel this June and will feature eight additional episodes in January for a total of 21 shows, which is not too shabby for a brand-new series.
