'Girls' Season 5 News, Spoilers: The Girls Are Really Trying 'To Grow Up a Little Bit,' EP Reveals
HBO's popular coming-of-age comedy-drama series "Girls" aired its season 5 premiere on Sunday, Feb. 21, and in it, fans saw Marnie Michaels (Allison Williams) get married and the rest of the girls take their own tentative steps into adulthood.
In the episode, which saw Marnie marrying her boyfriend Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), fans also saw Hannah's ("Girls" creator Lena Dunham) relationship with Fran (Jake Lacy) going strong a few months after she refused the advances of her ex Adam (Adam Driver).
Fran is, according to "Girls" executive producer Jenni Konner, "the health food of [Hannah's] life." Hannah also made the mature decision not to tell Marnie about a rumor she heard about Desi, which would have ruined her friend's big day.

Meanwhile, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) shared a kiss with her AA buddy Adam and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) came back from Japan to attend the wedding.
"This is the time when the girls are like, 'We're really going to try to grow up a little bit.'" Konner told The Hollywood Reporter. "And it's 'Girls,' so it won't work as easily as making that decision, but I think they're really [trying]."
Konner also revealed how she and the other "Girls" executive producers have approached the current season, knowing that it is the series' second-to-last. According to the "Girls" boss, much of the season 5 storylines, especially those in the back half of the season, were plotted with the show's end in mind.
In an interview with E! News, she said, "Judd [Apatow], Lena and I really felt like we know the ending now and once you know the ending, you can't just kick around for a while."
"The show's called 'Girls,' not 'Women,' and it just seemed like the natural time to wrap up," she explained.
"Girls" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on HBO.
