North American gamers who pre-order the game will receive the new theme at an earlier date, May 26, when they reserve the remastered fifth installment in the "God of War" series via the PlayStation network.

Pre-orders will also come with two free 90-day rentals of the original "God of War," and "God of War II" on PlayStation Now, Sony's cloud-based streaming system.

The new trailer features a fight between Kratos and Hades Boss, showing gameplay based on Kratos' epic storyline of betrayal and revenge.

The remastered version of game is geared in celebration of the "God of War" franchise's 10th anniversary, and is scheduled to be released on July 14 this year.

The original version is considered the series' best selling title, having sold close to 5.2 million copies worldwide within two years after its March 2010 launch for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

It received critical acclaim for its "scale," and garnered praise for its graphics, particularly of Kratos, a character IGN described as one of the "most impressive looking" in video games.

"God of War III" also took the "Most Anticipated Game of 2010" and Best PS3 Game" honors at the Spike Video Game Awards for two consecutive years from 2009 to 2010.
