Golden State Warriors Rumors and News 2015: Bucks Stop Historic Run at 24

The Golden State Warriors' epic run this season ended on Saturday as the Milwaukee Bucks defeated Steph Curry and company, 108-95, to put a halt to the team's quest of breaking the record of the Los Angeles Lakers, who set the longest consecutive wins in the history of the league at 33.

Golden State actually recorded 28 straight wins, dating back to last season's championship run, but several factors provided the blow to their hopes of surpassing the 1971-72 Lakers, including the grueling road schedule and the fact that Milwaukee showed how brilliant they can be defensively.

No longer perfect, the team's 24-game winning streak still remains as the best-ever start for any team in NBA history, something that should be pretty difficult to beat in this kind of modern basketball where every team can pull off a win against the best. And the Bucks' win is a perfect example of that.

For many experts, though, it was just a matter of time for the Warriors to eventually lose one, although not many could have predicted it will be the Bucks, whose record is way below .500, or exactly 10 wins to 15 losses.

The seven-game road trip, together with Golden State's double overtime win against Boston the day before, eventually took a toll on a team who many believed was simply unbeatable. Their most potent weapon, which is the three, abandoned them on Saturday night, where they only converted six out of 26 attempts.

Reigning league MVP Curry was his usual self, scoring 28, though he only made two out of eight three-point attempts. His backcourt buddy, Klay Thompson, managed just 12 points on 4 out of 14 shooting after missing the Boston game with a sprained ankle.

Quite interestingly, it was also the Bucks that ended the 33-game winning streak of the Lakers back in '72. This time, the young Milwaukee team showed promise, even though they've been playing way too low with respect to their potential this season. Recently acquired center/power forward Greg Monroe scored 28, while point guard Michael Carter-Williams contributed 17.
