Google Nexus Prime Release: 'Galaxy Nexus' Launch Date Revealed, Design Details
Samsung and Google have unveiled the Galaxy Nexus smartphone running the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Tuesday night at the “Samsung Mobile Unpacked: Google Episode” media event, in Hong Kong, China.
Galaxy Nexus event was introduced by the head of Samsung Mobile Communication, JK Shin, who showed off and spoke about the world’s first Ice Cream Sandwich device.
The Galaxy Nexus handset will perform on LTE and HSPA+ networks running with a dual core 1.2GHz processor. The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will run on both tablets and phones.

The newest device will present some changes in its design such as: new lock screen features; replacing physical buttons on devices with equivalent on-screen icons; redesigned multi-tasking screen. Also, it will offer a 4.65 super AMOLED display at 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
“Android 4.0 was designed specifically to work with this resolution,” said SVP of mobile product innovation at Samsung, Kevin Packingham, as reported by Wired.
According to Packingham, Samsung’s design legacy is a soft and natural feel. The device is thin at 8.49 and has a 4.29 mm bezel around the edge. A new Hypersking backing on the battery cover makes the back “slip resistant.” The device will also include a 5 megapixel camera capable of filming in 1080p HD, which has the ability to use built-in stabilization.
The Galaxy Nexus smartphone was originally planned to debut at Samsung’s “Mobile Unpacked” event earlier this month, but the event was pushed back out of respect for Steve Jobs after he passed away on Oct. 5.
The new Galaxy Nexus will be available in November. The reactions to the device announced in Hong Kong were broadly positive according to media reports.
