GoPro Hero 5 Launch Shelved Until October to Pack In More Upgrades

GoPro Hero 5's launch date has been moved to October 2015 to allow its maker to incorporate more upgrades into the new action camera.

Previous reports pointed to an earlier launch date for the GoPro Hero 5, but the latest updates hint that the company will need more time to make the device stand out from its competitors. Rumor has it that the upcoming action camera will come with better design and functionality including an 8K video recording resolution ability, according to the Day Herald.

The upcoming action camera will be able to take pictures and record videos up to 60 meters underwater, the report adds.

Other reports say the GoPro Hero 5 will have a shooting capability of 60 frames per second, which is twice the highest setting in its predecessors. While the improved features sound great to GoPro fans, some analysts fear that it could take a negative toll on the device's battery life and noise management, the report details.

On the other hand, GoPro has shown that its cameras can still perform well, despite the added finer features. This is evident in the performance of its earlier models.

Another interesting rumor is about the company's intention to bundle the GoPro Hero 5 with the Karma Drone, which is expected to be launched alongside the new action camera, Youth Health Mag reports. To make the plan possible, GoPro reportedly has to reduce the size of the camera to allow it to be attached easily to the drone.

The GoPro Hero 5's price will reportedly range from $450 to $550. It is worth noting that GoPro still has not confirmed the rumored details on its latest action camera. The company is expected to unveil its new products at the Consumer Electronic Show 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada and announce the official launch date of the product in the next few months.
