GoPro Hero4 Session Gets Christmas Price Slash to $200

GoPro Hero4 Session's price has been slashed down to $200 to encourage shoppers to buy the action-cam this holiday season.

In late September, GoPro dropped $100 from the price of the Hero4 Session in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. However, the first discount must have done little to help the sales of the waterproof action-cam, so the price was further cut down by another $100, according to CNET.

At $200, the Hero4 Session is now more affordable for action-cam fans. The Session is currently GoPro's smallest camera and is waterproof up to 33 feet even without the need for additional housing. It also has WiFi support, Gizmodo reports.

The GoPro Hero4 Session is a lot smaller and is easier to use, but the device had difficulty taking off because consumers were confused where it fits in the lineup. In addition, the Hero4 Silver offers an action-cam with better video quality and more features for the same $400 price tag, the report details.

After the first $100 discount, the Hero4 Session presented a better deal for consumers, but it also faced steep competition from other cheaper similar products. The Polaroid's Wi-Fi enabled Cube+ resembles the Session and costs only $150, the report details.

Now that the GoPro Hero4 Session is now down to $200, it is more at par with the Cube+ and other competitors. Still, the price slash places the Session in competition with the GoPro Hero+, which offers lesser shooting options. Basically, the advantage of the Hero+ would be its waterproof feature up to 40 meters.

As of now, GoPro has yet to see if the 50 percent price drop will prove to be an effective strategy to boost the sales of the Hero4 Session. Consumers who want a smaller action-cam with more convenient controls can take advantage of the holiday sale to get their hands on the said device.
