In an interview with Collider, Turner shared some interesting details about her experience as Jean Grey. She explained that the difference between her portrayal of Jean Grey to Famke Janssen take on the character is that her character is still young and learning about her powerful.

Though she is very powerful, the young Jean Grey was still adjusting to how interactions go with other "X-Men" character. According to Entertainment Weekly, she said, "She can't control her powers. And she and Charles can see just how strong she is. But she's at the school and all the kids are kind of afraid of her so they alienate her. And she is afraid of herself so she kind of alienates herself. She's just very, very vulnerable, and so terrified."

Though she had fun playing the role, she did complain about the costumes they were given for the "X-Men" uniform. She said, "You know, it's funny, you're supposed to kind of be able to do anything in them. But a lot of the time we kind of felt like grandparents when we couldn't kneel down properly and we'd all be like, holding our backs, and like kneeling being like, 'Ugh oh!' So mobility wise, they weren't the best. But at least we looked cool."

Aside from that, she said that the cast was very welcoming to the new actors who joined for "X-Men: Apocalpyse." She said that they will went to a Drake concert together during their first meeting. With that, they were able to bond and instantly got along. After that, they were comfortable with each other and did not want to spend time apart.
