'Gotham' Season 2 Episode 9 Spoilers: Penguin, Riddler Meet Again; Gordon, Barnes Clean Up The City

Fox's hit crime drama TV series "Gotham" Season 2 returns this week with a brand new episode that will see an unlikely friendship being forged. Meanwhile, the city's problem has gone from bad to worse that even its protectors would be forced to use brutal measures.

Last week's episode saw Ed Nygma finally transforming into a criminal that he's been destined to become. He also happens to stumble upon Penguin who has been hiding in the woods to lick his wounds. The sneak peek for the upcoming episode titled "A Bitter Pill to Swallow" posted over at ComicBookMovie.com further reveals the GCPD's forensic analyst fully abandoning the concept of remorse.

The highlight reel suggested that Ed had taken care of the wounded mob leader. The former advised against the latter to get out due to his injuries. The two then conversed. Ed confided to Oswald about the transformation he's gone through. Bewildered, Penguin prodded further. Nygma disclosed that he's murdered people and apparently, talking about the thing makes him feel excited and thrilled. The cripped mobster smiled.

It remains to be seen if the two will work hand in hand in the future but it's more likely that Ed and Penguin have already established a rapport between themselves. This could be an alliance that can prove to be very dangerous. How will Jim Gordon be able to stop the two budding villains?

Speaking of the police officer, another teaser trailer, this time posted on Melty.com, shows Gordon beating up what seems to be a suspect of a crime. According to the site, Jim's vicious acts of bringing people to justice could suggest that it's no longer "black and white" for the officer as he himself has already "crossed the line."

The synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic meanwhile indicates the introduction of Eduardo Flamingo which will surely give Captain Barnes some headache. On the other hand, Bruce will pressure Theo Galvan to reveal the name of the person who took down Mr. and Mrs. Wayne.

"Gotham" Season 2 airs Monday, at 8 p.m. on Fox.
