'Gotham' Season 2 Will Tell The Joker's Origin Story (VIDEO)
"Gotham" creator Bruno Heller has announced he is prioritizing The Joker's origin story when the show when the second season opens at a soon-to-be announced date.
There have already been hints of The Joker's past unfolding even as two more episodes in season one still await airing. According to Heller, there will be no teasers on the The Joker prior to the next season as season two is primarily going to be Joker-oriented, with the extravagant story of how the Clown Prince of Crime came to be.
After actor Cameron Monaghan, who was introduced in Episode 16: "The Blind Fortune Teller" as the Haly Circus snake dancer's son, Jerome who murders his own mother for her nagging ways, then bursts out into the beginnings of a signature maniacal laugh, audiences assumed Jerome was an early version of the The Joker, an assumption which Monaghan himself confirmed to Comic Book Resources.

Monaghan, 21, is best known for his gay character Ian Gallagher in Showtime's "Shameless," a performance The Independent commended as one of the most nuanced gay teen depictions on U.S. television.
Comic Book reports Heller further warned audiences not to expect a comically laughing madman as his version of The Joker is something he refers to as "pre-embryonic," likely before the character has taken a psychological turn for the worse, complete with a sadistic sense of humor.
In season one, audiences learned the origin of Dr. Crane, the Scarecrow and Carmine Falcone's bigger grasp for power in Gotham. With two more episodes before the season ends on May 4, fans of the DC Comics crime drama on Fox will have to await the announcement for season two's premiere date to learn more about The Joker's beginnings.
