'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 News, Spoilers: Sarah Drew On April-Jackson Fiasco; Wilmer Valderrama Guest Stars
April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) may seem a long, long way from reconciliation, but the actress who plays the tough-as-nails Dr. Kepner says that she's holding out hope that the two will get back together.
The recently-divorced April and Jackson are currently in the midst of another major dilemma. After going through the loss of their first child, an extended separation, and a drawn-out fight about getting divorced/statying together, the former couple are now at odds over their unborn child. The arrival of Jackson's mother, Catherine (Debbie Allen), in the previous episode, only made things worse, resulting in the threat of a lawsuit.
Drew recently spoke to Cosmopilitan.com about April's newfound strength and the outcome she wants for April and Jackson.
"My heart always moves toward reconciliation," the actress said. As she explained to the website, all she wants is for the couple to work things out and be happy, and for them to stay together for the sake of their baby.
Drew also spoke about "Unbreak My Heart," the recent flashback episode which featured April and Jackson's long history, beginning when the two were interns and no more than friends.
"It was fun to take that journey, because my character also changed significantly," Drew said about the episode. "The way that I walked and moved and talked, the tone of my voice shifted. April's grown and changed and gone to war and lost a baby."
As for what's ahead for April, Drew said, "She's just doing what is right for her at this point."
"This is what she's decided is best for this child, and she's going to do everything in her power to protect this child in this way," she added.
In the next episode of "Grey's Anatomy," Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Owen (Kevin McKidd), and Riggs (Martin Henderson) will pick up a heart for a transplant, Catherine will continue meddling in April and Jackson's fight, and a musician with MS will be admitted for a hand tremor.
The musician, called Kyle Diaz, will be played by "That '70s Show" alum Wilmer Valderrama, who is set to appear in a multi-episode arc in the current season.
"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
