'Halo Wars 2' News: Another E3 Game Worth Waiting For -- Better Than Original
One of the biggest announcements that was made during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was the real-time strategy game "Halo Wars 2." The game is being developed by 343 Studios and Creative Assembly. It will be published by Microsoft Studios.
Where the Story Takes Off
The predecessor of the game was set 10 years prior before the first game, "Halo: Combat Evolved." Around that time, the opponents of the crew of the UNSC warship, Spirit of Fire, were still The Covenant. In their last mission, Cutter had no choice, but to sacrifice some of his ships in order to defeat their opponents. This resulted to the main ship being left alone in space, AND in order to save their energy, the protagonists went into cryo-sleep until they are rescued.
"Halo Wars 2" will start off 28 years later when the AI of the ship, Serina, will awaken Captain Cutter and the rest of the crew. The reason she woke them up is because there is a new danger that they have to face. The new antagonists are a branch of The Covenant that call themselves the Banished, and it appears that they are more superior than their previous foes.
The Gameplay
The rest of the game will still be the same, gathering resources in order to build new units. Players must strategize what kind of units they will make in order to defeat their foes. Gamers must think new strategies as well since there will also be some changes like new units for the allies and the enemies.
It is said that the game will also have new game modes during. One of those modes is called the Domination mode, where two players have the objective to take as many areas as possible of the map. Whoever has more areas controlled will win the Domination mode.
Moreover, other modes of games will be included in the final copy of the game as well such as the Deathmatch, Blitz and Strongholds. The Stronghold mode is said to be a three-versus-three type of game where the player work with other teammates to capture other strongholds.
