Hamilton will Most Likely Stay on the $10 Bill...a Woman Joins Him?
Alexander Hamilton may still have good chances of staying in the U.S. 10-dollar bill as Lin-Manuel Miranda recently shared that he has received assurance from the Treasury Department regarding the famed United States Founding Father's stay in the bill.
Miranda told The New York Times that the Treasury's Secretary, Jacob J. Lew, said Hamilton loyalists will surely love the new design that the $10 bill will sport. Miranda created the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton" and has said many times earlier that he is a fan of the influential U.S. Constitution promoter.
A spokesperson for the Treasure said Miranda and Lew talked about the former's role in igniting the interest of people in Hamilton and his contributions to the country's establishment. While it should be remembered that Lew was one of the leaders who suggested that Hamilton be replaced by a woman, the spokesperson clarified that Lew "also reiterated his commitment to continue to honor Alexander Hamilton on the 10 dollar bill."

When it was first announced that Hamilton will most likely be replaced by a woman, fans who believe he should retain his place in the U.S. currency went ballistic. According to The Mary Sue, some citizens pointed out that Hamilton should stay in the currency since Andrew Jackson, who happens to have a history of genocide, continues to be honored as his face is still retained in $20 bills.
Women on 20s, an organization pushing for women to have their place in the American currencies, suggested earlier last year that the best solution to solve the ongoing debates regarding Hamilton's replacement is to keep the famed leader in the bill. Additionally, women who contributed a lot to the American history and legacy should be placed on the opposite side of the hard money.
While Lew has not commented on the said recommendation, the organization said it is hoping that the government will heed their advice not only regarding women placed alongside Hamilton in the $10 currency but the petition to replace Jackson completely with another historical woman.
