Has 'Grey's Anatomy' Found McDreamy's Replacement?

As "Grey's Anatomy" approaches Season 12, news has emerged producers have found a replacement for Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd's character.

New Zealand actor Martin Henderson has been tapped to fill in the void left after Dr. Derek Shepherd's character was killed off in Season 11's Episode 21 of "Grey's Anatomy" in April.

The demise of Patrick Dempsey's character, Dr. Derek Shepherd, left fans of the medical drama at a loss after an unexpected twist in the series where McDreamy's life support was cut off after being left brain dead following a car accident.

The show's producers may have found a replacement for the debonair doctor in the person of Martin Henderson, who has previously played Noah Clay in 2002's supernatural horror film, "The Ring," and as Las Vegas vice cop Hollis Elmore in the 2006 action crime movie, "Smokin' Aces."

Henderson is also part of the main cast in the Australian version of "Secrets and Lies" on Network Ten.

ABC has already signed Henderson on as a regular in the upcoming Season 12, which premieres on Sept. 24. The network has yet to announce the details of the character he will be playing, however.

The only information on available on Henderson's role involves his playing a newly arrived surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Henderson, 40, isn't a new to playing medical professional. He previously played a doctor for 13 episodes in the short-lived Shonda Rhimes ABC medical drama "Off The Map."

Henderson will soon be seen on the big screen on Sept. 18 where he will play Kiwi mountain climber, Andy Harris in the adventure thriller-climate disaster movie, "Everest," alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, Sam Worthington, Robin Wright, Keira Knightley, and Emily Watson.
