'Heroes Reborn' News, Update: No Season 2 For The Tim Kring Series

Despite the hopes of the many, NBC's hit supernatural drama TV series "Heroes Reborn" won't be having a Season 2.

During the network's panel at the Television Critics Association's Winter Press tour in Pasadena this Wednesday, Jan. 13, chairman for NBC Entertainment, Bob Greenblatt dropped the news confirming that the limited 13-episode revival of the hit 2006-2010 show is done and won't be coming back for a sophomore run.

"[One season] was always the plan, unless [creator Tim Kring] woke up one day and said, 'I have another chapter to tell,'" Greenblatt was quoted as saying by Entertainment Weekly during the event. "But I think we're coming to the end of the world, maybe. Stay tuned. As far as I know, there are no more incarnations of Heroes coming."

Long before "Reborn" premiered to the small screens, it has been revealed that the show is only intended to go for just one season. But for Kring, there's always room for expansion.

"…I've always felt that the brand was elastic enough and a broad enough premise," the series creator said on last year's TCA press tour, and as cited over Variety. "It's a show about ordinary people with extraordinary powers. It's an indeterminate [amount of] people around the world and then they have to save the world."

Kring went on to say during that conference that he was pretty much confident that they can weave more new tales using the original characters as well as introducing new ones.

"Heroes Reborn," for the meantime, is set to air its series finale entitled "Project Reborn" next Thursday. The details about the final epidode were shared over at Zap2it.com and it indicated that Erica will be even more desperate to make sure that her plan succeeds. Tommy, on his part, is yet to face his "biggest challenge" yet while Luke and Quentin helps Malina fulfill what has been predicted. Emily and Ren, meanwhile, will set out to rescue Miko while Carlos is faced with a dilemma.
