'Homeland' Season 5 Finale: Is Quinn Actually Dead?
American political thriller television series "Homeland" has closed its fifth season with a bang of love, loss and death. Not really a happy explosion though as fans saw Rupert Friend's character Peter Quinn die. According to Deadline, Quinn suffered a brain hemorrhage from the harsh treatment earlier in the season at the hands of the jihadists. Even if he survives it, he might have serious brain damage.
This led to the decision of Claire Danes' character Carrie Mathison to pull away the pulse monitor at the end of the episode, representing the end of Quinn's life. However, Movie Fone noted that fans didn't actually see him die. This has sparked rumors about the show pulling off a "Game of Thrones" undead twist of fan favorite character Jon Snow.
Many are speculating that Quinn isn't really dead yet and might be back for more in the next season. According to Christian Today, the final scenes of season 5 showed Carrie sitting by Quinn's hospital bed. Dar Adal, played by F. Murray Abraham, had earlier presented to her a letter from Quinn wherein he revealed his secret love for her. The CIA agent then looked at his face for some time, as if to say a final goodbye, as a ray of light entered into the room.

The question is now focused on the mysterious ray of light. Some think that it was all just a dream that Carrie was having. Meanwhile, others guessed that it was Quinn's ghost watching over her. Fans are hoping for the former though. But with Quinn's grave situation, it would be questionable how things will turn around. The doctor has said that Quinn will have no chance of regaining normal functions so the series will most likely stick through with the storyline.
Showrunner Alexa Gansa could have been the answer to the biggest mystery but according to International Business Times, Gansa has reportedly refused to do post-finale interviews this year. Fans will have to wait and see then when "Homeland" returns for season 6 next fall.
