'Indiana Jones 5' News: David Koepp Slated to Write Screenplay
The making of "Indiana Jones 5" has been nicely falling into place. And the star of the film, Harrison Ford, is not the only one getting excited about it. Just recently, the film's director Steven Spielberg tapped a familiar collaborator to pen the screenplay for the sequel to one of the oldest action adventure film series there is.
David Koepp, known for his work on "Jurassic Park" and the "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," will be penning the latest installment of the film for Disney and Lucasfilm. Koepp will work with Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy regarding the direction of the script.
"Kingdom of Crystal Skull" was Koepp's first "Indiana Jones" movie, but whose story idea had been created by George Lucas. What will be different in this latest installment of "Indiana Jones" is that Lucas, who originally thought up the ideas to the first four films, will not be involved in this one.

The first four "Indy" movies were "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)," "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (1989), "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" (1992), and "Crystal Skull" as previously mentioned. But the character first appeared in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 1981.
The production may start filming next summer, with the script yet to be written. There is ample time to do so with the release date set for July 19, 2019 yet.
There has been no word so far about how the story will go considering that, by the time the film releases, Ford, reprising his role as the famous archaeologist Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones, Jr., will already be 77 years old.
Other films to Koepp's credit include "Mission Impossible" and the first "Spider-Man." He also wrote another Spielberg movie, "War of the Worlds," besides "Jurassic Park: The Lost World."
More recent works include "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" and "Inferno," Sony's take on the novel by Dan Brown, starring Tom Hanks.
