Indianapolis Colts Injury Rumors: Matt Hasselbeck Shoulder Injury to Keep Him Out
The Indianapolis Colts haven't been fortunate this season when it comes to their quarterbacks, with Matt Hasselbeck the latest to go down after suffering a shoulder injury in their victory against the Miami Dolphins.
Hasselbeck's injury happened in the second quarter of the 18-12 win of the Colts, when he was caught in the middle of an offensive play. He went out of a bunch of players appearing to have rotated the shoulder like there was something wrong with it. He immediately called for Charlie Whitehurst and then helped himself go to the locker in obvious pain. Later, the team announced that he won't be making a return to the game.
And to make matters even worse, backup Whitehurst suffered an unknown injury, prompting the team to allow him to leave the game. He also did not return.

The Dolphins targeted Hasselbeck all game long, having been previously drilled by Jordan Phillips in the previous plays, but the most grimacing hit came from Ndamukong Suh, to which Hasselbeck later complained of extreme pain, and shown by the presence of a sling in his right arm as soon as he hit the sidelines in the second half of the game.
Although he wanted to sound positive, the veteran quarterback couldn't hide his disappointment. When asked by reporters if he was to play next week, he just said that he's not ruling anything out but the optimism isn't really there.
The Colts are no stranger to injuries to their quarterbacks. Everyone already knows that star QB Andrew Luck is still out. However, he wasn't missed that much because of Hasselbeck's second wind as a reliable backup. But at 40, his body will eventually give in to the natural and inherent physicality of the game, resulting to injuries. Now the team needs to look for a playmaker without their top 2 options.
