Indianapolis Colts News: Andrew Luck Has Lacerated Kidney, Will Miss at Least Two Weeks
The Indianapolis Colts received bad news on Tuesday when Coach Chuck Pagano announced that quarterback Andrew Luck will miss two to six weeks due to a lacerated kidney, as well as a partial tear on his abdominal muscle, although the coach revealed that both injuries will not require surgery.
Without surgery, Luck should be expected to join the team for the remaining games of the season. But an ESPN report said that the team is expecting their quarterback to be out at least a month.
Pagano admitted that the injury is a huge blow to the team. "You don't want to lose anybody, especially your starting quarterback. Our guys will respond like they always do. We've been through a ton already this season and in the past, and we'll get through it. We'll get through it," he added.
The injury will definitely leave a big hole in the Colts' offense considering that Luck has been performing well, highlighted by a great showing against the Broncos, a team that owns the best defense in the NFL.
Although unconfirmed, the star quarterback might have suffered the injury in the Broncos game when linebacker Danny Travathan hit him in the midsection right before defensive tackle Vance Walker took him down.
The Colts are still first place in the AFC South with a 4-5 record and that's because other teams in the division haven't been really good.
The team's quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen talked to the media on Tuesday, saying that Luck had the tendency to do a little too much, putting him at different risks of getting injured. "He's so darn competitive," Christensen added.
The Colts have a bye this week and will take on Atlanta for Week 11 action and then go up against Tampa Bay in Week 12. The team hopes to see Luck recover from the injury as soon as possible, especially in the second half of the season. He is currently under contract up to 2016.
