'Injustice 2' Nintendo Switch Version Could Be Missing Some Features, Creative Director Says

"Injustice 2," the hit superhero fighting game could make its way to the Nintendo Switch in the future. This is according to the game's creative director who said it would be fun to play on Nintendo's system.

In an interview with Gamespot, Ed Boon talked about the possibilities of a switch version of the fighting game. However, while a port to the hybrid console could happen, it is inevitable that there will be some technical shortcomings.

The main drawback of porting a game to the Switch is that the console is far less powerful compared to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. To port games originally meant for the latter two consoles to Nintendo's system, a few compromises would have to be made.

"Yeah, I think at the end of the day you can make almost any game... there are inevitable compromises, but you know, you can make some version of Injustice on the Atari 2600," said Boon. "It's not going to be great, but I bet you can make something."

According to Boon, while NetherRealm is interested in exploring games for the Switch, they may need to seek outside help in doing so. He adds that the hybrid console is a very different architecture and porting a game from say the PS4 to the Switch isn't as easy as it sounds.

Recently, Electronic Arts also had to make a compromise to release "FIFA 18" on the Switch. Due to the fact that the Frostbite engine is unavailable for the console, a number of key features from the game were removed, particularly The Journey story mode.

Nevertheless, NetherRealm seems intent to release the fighting game to the platform. Outside technical difficulties, Boon says he believes the game will be an enjoyable experience on the Nintendo Switch.

"Injustice 2" is currently available for the PS4 and Xbox One.
