iOS 10 Platform News and Updates: Apple Releases New Software Beta Versions for iPhone, Mac; Specs and Features Revealed
Despite having September as the release date for the new iPhone device, Apple is also releasing a new beta version of the iOS 10 platform. This upgrade is designated to work with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices.
Beta features
The new public beta would be the sixth iteration for the developers and the fifth for the general public. This version would be available to pre-existing users and their mobile devices via Over-The-Air updates. New users who want to participate in the beta program may sign-up at Apple's website.

The new beta version provide minor tweaks, including a new lock sound, an updated AirPlay icon, some widget user interface tweaks, and a new Home app wallpaper. Users have also reported that bug issues from previous beta iterations would be resolved. There is also an inclination that a new Touch ID feature would be added as well.
This follows a major overhaul of the general interface to be implemented by iOS 10, specifically targeting the Maps, Music and News apps, the Control Center, the Notification Center, and even the Lock Screen. The Messages app would also feature more personalized and customizable options.
The new iOS 10 made its first official public appearance back in June at Apple's WWDC developer conference, and was announced to be released this fall.
New watchOS and tvOS beta versions
Along with the release of the new iOS version was the release of the watchOS and tvOS beta versions for the Apple Watch and Apple TV. These iterations are exclusive to software developers. The new tweaks in these platforms are still being kept from the public.
macOS Sierra update improves on OS X
Following the release of software beta updates, Apple has also issued a new macOS Sierra update for both developers and the public, just a week after its last developer beta version. Apple has renamed the OS X for its Mac lineup to macOS also at the WWDC developer conference, in order to unify its software branding.
The new version introduces Siri, the Apple virtual assistant to the desktop and laptop platforms. It also includes a "Universal Clipboard" for inter-device copying, some new pairing and compatibility features with the Apple Watch for further interaction between the Apple devices. It also promises an enhanced iCloud integration.
The official public release of macOS Sierra, along with the new watchOS and tvOS, is expected to come shortly after the official release of iOS 10 come this fall.
