iOS 9 users opting to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 due to performance lag

The newly released Apple iOS 9 has caused much excitement among iPhone users, but some of them have opted to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 just after upgrading to the latest mobile operating system.

The iOS 9 may be causing a performance lag in some older iPhone models, causing some users to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1. YouTube videos uploaded on Wednesday on the iAppleBytes channel show that apps take a longer time to open when iOS 9 is installed, according to CNET.

Aside from slower opening of apps, the iOS 9 has slowed down some iPhone units' process of switching from one app to another and navigating the screen. There are those who have contacted Apple support forums to seek help for the slowing down of their phones after the iOS 9 update, the report details.

On Friday, tech news site 9to5Mac conducted a survey asking 27,725 respondents how the iOS 9 has affected their iPhone. Among those who voted in the poll, 36 percent confirmed that their iPhone showed significant slowing down after the iOS 9 update, while 31 percent said the performance of their iPhone was just a bit slower after the mobile OS update.

Those who have recently installed iOS 9 on their iPhone but want to revert to iOS 8.4.1 are advised to back up their personal data and settings before doing so. They can either do this by plugging the phone into a computer and click the "Back Up Now" button in iTunes, or via iCloud, iDigital Times reports.

The complaints about iOS 9 slowing down iPhones are not uncommon, because a newer operating system is designed to work with newer phones that are equipped with a more powerful processor and battery, the report notes.

However, there are also positive things about the iOS 9 update. Based on the videos from iAppleBytes, Siri now responds faster compared to the time before the update.
