'iZombie' Season 2 News: 'Veronica Mars' Alum Joins Second Half Of Series

It would seem like The CW's hit science fiction drama TV series "iZombie" is holding a big "Veronica Mars" reunion event.

Earlier this week, a casting report surfaced indicating actor Enrico Colantoni landing a recurring role in Season 2B of the Rose McIver-fronted series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor, who played Keith Mars on the cult classic teen noir detective series, will appear on "iZombie" as Lou Benedetto. As revealed by the media outlet, the character is a vice detective whose cases touch on Liv's (McIver) personal and professional life in some way.

THR added that the 52-year-old will begin filming this week and is slated to appear in the small screens during the 14th and 17th episode of the show.

Colantoni, as it turns out, won't be the only "Veronica Mars" alum who will be on "iZombie."

Entertainment Weekly reported last year that Kristen Bell and Ryan Lane are also set for a special appearance. In Bell's case, EW revealed that she will be doing a voice-over act in Episode 11, titled "Fifty Shades of Grey Matter," which is slated to premiere on Jan. 26. The details of Bell's participation are yet to be revealed. However, it has been found out that during this episode, Liv will once again eat the brain of a poisoned young librarian.

Lane, on the other hand, will appear on the upcoming episode airing next week called "Method Head." The "Switched at Birth" star is said to play as an actor on Liv's favorite TV show, "Zombie High."

According to the synopsis for the episode shared over at The Futon Critic, Liv will be devastated to learn that her favorite actor on the aforementioned show has been murdered on set. In another development, Vaughn (guest star Steven Weber) wants proof of Major's (Robert Buckley) loyalty, while Ravi (Rahul Kohli) is about to be the bearer of bad news. Blaine (David Anders), on his part, will be surprised by an unexpected visitor.

"iZombie" airs Tuesdays, at 9 p.m on The CW.
