Ja Rule: 'Prison Life is Amazing'

Rapper, Ja Rule has formed bonds with fellow high-profile inmates and has said that prison life is amazing.

While serving time for gun possession and tax evasion, Ja Rule has formed friendships with ex CEO of Tyco, Dennis Kozlowski and former New York City Comptroller, Alan Hevesi, according to Hollywoodreporter.com.

He said that he wouldn't meet guys like that everyday on the outside and told the Daily News that "this place is amazing."

"It's funny. We're from totally different walks of life," Ja Rule said. "But when you're here, you're here."

Rule has nicknamed Kozlowski, "Koz" and said he gave him stock advice and convinced him to enroll in college classes after earning his GED in jail.

"I was studying for my GED and Koz came in and talked to me and said, if you need any help, let me know," Rule said.

Kozlowski also told him to buy airline stock and study business. Due to the encouragement of Kozlowski and Hevesi, Rule will begin taking college-level courses this month, according to the Daily News.

He's given Hevesi the nickname, "Hevey D" and says they get along good because they're both Democrats. Rule said that the two watch get together to watch Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report".

Rule also met Hank Morris in prison. Morris reportedly stole $18 million in a pension scandal that involved Hevesi. Rule boasted about his card playing skills and his basketball skills.

"Hank was my spades partner, and we were undefeated in basketball," Rule said. "Hank had a jump-shot man."

Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins has been serving a two-year sentence for gun possession and tax evasion since June, according to the Daily News. He is currently in the Mid-State Correctional facility in upstate Oneida, N.Y.

He isn't scheduled for release until February 2013, but he is still happy that one of his prison pals is one step closer to freedom.

"Koz just got out on work release. Not to say I wish he was still here," Rule said.

Kozlowski is serving an eight to 25 year sentence for using the coffers of Tyco Inc. as a personal piggy bank. He allegedly gave himself $81 million in unauthorized bonuses. He's famous for splurging his riches on a $6,000 shower curtain and a $2 million party.

Hevesi is serving one to four years for corruption charges stemming from a pay to play corruption scheme.
