Jawbone Up 3 to Be Released in Time for Holiday Season
In the world of fitness trackers, the names Apple and Samsung mean nothing, with the fitness band market being dominated by Fitbit and Jawbone. On Wednesday earlier this week, Jawbone just unveiled the latest in its fitness tracking bands, the Up3 wristband as well as the Up Move.
The two trackers can supposedly track heart-rates, sleep cycles, calorie intake, as well as the temparature of your skin. The only difference between the two are the prices.
The Jawbone Up 3 will launch later this year and will be priced at $179.99. Unlike its predecessor, the Up 2, the new tracker will feature three different sensors for tracking your health instead of just one. Most other fitness trackers only feature one accelerometer to count steps and calculate calories burned but the Up 3 goes beyond that.
Adding to the basic functions of the Up 3, the tracker also learns about workout habits with everyday use. Users might have to manually log activities when they want to workout but eventually, the Up 3 picks up on its wearers habits and logs those activities automatically.
The Up 3's sleep monitoring capabilities have also been improved, with the device monitoring how long its wearer has entered sleep as well as determining whether the quality of sleep was desirable.
Despite having three sensors to monitor its wearer's health, Jawbone has managed to make the band thinner than its predecessor. The company will be releasing various designs of the fitness band.
