Jenna Bush Baby Shower: Former President Paints Cat for Nursery
NBC colleagues recently pulled together to throw expectant mother Jenna Bush a baby shower, but instead of receiving baby gear, she received dozens of children's books.
Bush married husband Henry Chase Hager in 2007 during a summer ceremony in May after dating for over two years. She announced in December that she and her husband were expecting their first child together, who is due in the spring. Bush began working as a news correspondent at NBC's "Today Show" in 2009. She appears on the show once a month to discuss issues in education and occasionally politics.
Last week Bush's NBC co-workers decided to throw her a special baby shower at the Peter Callahan Catering studio in New York. But instead of going a traditional route when it came to the gift table, her friend decided to purchase children's books instead, according to People magazine.

"Dozens of her colleagues" participated in the event, each donating a book with a piece of parenting advice scribbled inside of the first page.
In a copy of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt," former co-anchor Meredith Viera advised Bush to "Get a nap anytime you can," according to People. Hoda Kotb advised Bush to be just like her own mother, former First Lady Laura Bush.
The NBC crew has been helpful in other parts of Bush's baby planning as well. Some of them also ambushed the home that Bush shares with her husband to help decorate the nursery.
The news correspondent's father, former President Bush, also helped to decorate by contributing paintings- a hobby he has acquired since leaving the White House. The paintings included a portrait of the family cat, a painting of a baby tree, and a still life of a ranch.
"He's become an artist. There's a whole new side of him and he's so excited about the baby," Jenna told People in a previous interview.
