Jessica Lange Confirms She's Leaving 'American Horror Story'

Jessica Lange has been on "American Horror Story" for the last four seasons. During Season 4 of the show, the 65-year old actress said that "Freak Show" might be her last season on the popular installment, but show creator Ryan Murphy assured disappointed fans that he was doing all that he can to convince Lange to sign up for season five.

However, the Emmy winner confirmed on Sunday, March 15 that she will not be returning for the fifth season of the hit FX anthology series.

Lange made the announcement at PaleyFest after repeated questions by the moderator, eventually confirming that the show will continue next season without her.

"I'm done," said Lange. "We've had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I've had the opportunity to play, and in all madness, I love the writers and the insanity of shooting it."

"I've done four great characters," she continued before adding, "It's enough."

Lange starred in season 1 "Mysterious House" as neighbor Constance, season 2 as "Asylum" head Sister Jude, season 3 as "Coven" with Fiona Goode, and finished her run as eccentric "Freak Show" leader Elsa Mars.

Meanwhile, there is no word whether the other "American Horror Story" original cast members namely Evan Peters, Michael Chiklis, Finn Witrock, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidebe, Lily Rabe, Emma Roberts, Denis O'Hare and Kathy Bates will be back for the new season.

Roberts and Paulson have both signed on for other Murphy series. Roberts will be in "Scream Queens" on Fox while Paulson will be in "American Crime Story" on FX.

In other news, the fifth season will be titled "American Horror Story: Hotel." The new season will include new cast members including Lady Gaga and Murphy favorites Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" is set to premiere in October 2015.
