John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson Star in New Stephen King Zombie Flick
Whenever a Stephen King novel is made into film, there always is that great level of excitement, and when it happens once again, this time, with big-time names like John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson part of the cast, the anticipation is a lot higher.
The newest King adaptation is called "Cell," which is based on a novel that the best-selling author released a decade ago. While the plot and theme in his novels have been praised for their uniqueness and originality, "Cell" isn't really a new story. It's a sci-fi horror film that stars Cusack, who plays the character Clay Riddell, a New England artist who must figure out the cause and source of a mysterious signal broadcast over the cell phone network that turned thousands of people into a form that resemble zombies and at the same time find his son, whom he believes hasn't been turned yet.
The film is some sort of reunion for Cusack and Jackson, who both starred in a 2007 film called "1408," which interestingly is also based on a Stephen King book.

Although all of the films based on King's books have received notable anticipation, not everyone achieved box office success. The likes of The Shining and The Shawshank Redemption were considered works of success, but there were others that weren't really welcomed with enthusiasm by filmgoers.
The trailer gives a preview on how the world came to be when a pulse hits and people started to go crazy and kill each other. Fortunately for those who weren't using their phones at that time when the pulse happened, including Cusack's character, they weren't affected by it. It's a typical story of survival and for the main protagonists to save the world.
The film is directed by Tod Williams, who is best known for his work on "Paranormal Activity 2." Aside from Cusack and Jackson, Isabelle Fuhrman and Stacy Keach play supporting roles.
