Jorge Garcia 400 Pounds? Concern for 'Lost' Star's Health Reported
Jorge Garcia, best known for his role in the hit drama series "Lost," is causing concern with fans over his increasing weight, according to reports this week.
The 40-year-old actor is "pushing 400 pounds" today, and friends and family of Garcia are beginning to worry about weight issues such as Diabetes 2 that could lead to heart failure, the National Enquirer is reporting.
"We're talking Type 2 diabetes, or worse, a heart attack," a source close to Garcia said. "No one want to see that happen to him."
Garcia portrays Hugo "Hurley" Reyes on "Lost," and more recently, the actor appeared on Fox's "Alcatraz" as well as ABC's "Once Upon A Time." He is also a stand up comedian.
"Jorge is one of the nicest, gentlest souls you'd ever meet, but he just can't keep the pounds off," the insider at Enquirer added.
Garcia has not addressed the report found in the disreputable paper, but the actor never misses an opportunity to poke fun at his own weight. Active on Twitter, Garcia recently posted a "selfie" in a chef's outfit.
"I think this is the shortest shirt I've ever worn," he wrote in the caption before the quip, "Other than my tube top."
Furthermore, on his Instagram account, the actor often references food- even nutrition facts on a box of cookies where the serving size was listed as 50 cookies.
"Oh damn. Lost count," the actor quipped in the caption of the photo.
Many of Garcia's posts include photos of his pets and food items, including chocolate-covered macadamia nuts and freshly baked bread.
Notwithstanding, the actor shared a photo that offers fans hope that he is turning his health around. The photo posted on Jan. 3 featured what appears to be a smoothie and the caption, "Startin' the new year off on track. So far so good."
