Josh Duhamel Says 'Call Of Duty' Doesn't Need A Movie

There's no denying that "Call of Duty" is one massive franchise with multiple game titles each having impressive sales numbers. The franchise is definitely a behemoth in the video game world but is it good enough to warrant a movie?

Actor Josh Duhamel doesn't think so. Duhamel provides the voice for Sergeant Pierson in the upcoming "Call of Duty: WW2" game, and he thinks a movie franchise might not be a necessity.

"Why would they need a movie," Duhamel asked. "The story is just as compelling as any movie they could make. The writing, the way they directed it, the amount of detail in every scene...You couldn't even compare it to anything in the video game"

Safe to say he's impressed by the craftsmanship behind the development of Sledgehammer Games' latest title. He also isn't a stranger to video games having lent his voice to High Volt from 2015's "Skylanders: SuperChargers" as well as being a gamer since childhood.

"The level of storytelling is so good," Duhamel said. "I'm not really good at games, but I've been playing my whole life."

While he isn't necessarily against making a "Call of Duty" movie, he does give some very interesting arguments against making one. He's probably right that the depth of the games cannot be summed up in film or a franchise for that matter. The underwhelming performance of films such as "Warcraft" and "Assassin's Creed," definitely proves his point, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Whether Activision Blizzard heeds this, of course, is a different matter entirely. After all, Activision Blizzard Studios was created to bring the both publisher's games to the big screen and not repeat the mistakes that made "Warcraft" a failure in the big screen in nearly all markets with the exception of China. Who knows, maybe Duhamel can star in these films having played the role of a soldier himself in the "Transformers" franchise.

"Call of Duty: WW2" is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
