'Just Cause 3' News: Holiday Release, Gameplay Trailer (VIDEO)

Square Enix and Avalanche Studios have announced a third installment of their open world action-adventure game, "Just Cause 3" for Q4 of 2015.

"Just Cause 3" has just been pegged for a "holiday 2015" release, five years after the action adventure video game, the commercially successful "Just Cause 2," brought players to the fictional open world environment of Panau to overthrow an evil dictator.

The Swedish and New York game developer has also released the first gameplay trailer for "Just Cause 3," set in the fictional island Medici in the middle of the Mediterranean.

The game, geared for release on Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, will see the return of protagonist, Rico Rodriguez, whose goal is to save his home island from the evil dictator, General Di Ravello.

The trailer will take audiences along 400 square miles of sweeping island landscapes complete with crashes, explosions, and non-stop action, with particular focus on vehicular combat.

Rico's signature grappling hook and parachute will be present, as well, with all-new improved mechanics, and the addition of a new wingsuit to his arsenal of tools.

According to Gadgets NDTV, the game will be eschewing the use of in-game microtransactions prevalent in newly-released AAA titles like "Mortal Kobat X."

The game will be made available via digital download and for purchase in retail boxes, with a possibility of DLC packs arriving in the coming years after its launch, according to Avalanche Studios co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Christofer Sunberg in a press release posted on the company's blog last year.

Launched in March 2010, its predecessor, "Just Cause 2," sold more than 6 million copies by September 2013, releasing 10 DLC packs since it was made available for Windows PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, and garnering 8/10 positive review scores.

A pre-order availability has already been announced for "Just Cause 3," complete in with in-game freebies for players.
