'Justice League' Cast Discuss Joss Whedon, Zack Snyder Split Duties
With the DC Extended Universe's first ensemble film "Justice League" only a week away, many are anxious whether it has what it takes to compete with Marvel's "The Avengers." Many are particularly concerned whether the transition of directing duties from Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon will affect the film.
During a recent press conference at the film's London junket, producer Deborah Snyder and actor Ben Affleck talked about the transition between the two directors and why the film still remains a Snyder movie.
"The movie is Zack's DNA," said Affleck who plays Batman in "Justice League." "He cast the movie, he designed the movie. People, I think, don't understand who don't work on movies, which is how much work is done in prep. The casting, the sets get built, the story is written, the ship is in essence sailing."

Affleck added that they got lucky to get Joss Whedon when Snyder had to step away from the film due to personal tragedy. "We were fortunate when Zack was not able to continue, we got really lucky in that we got a guy who is very accomplished in his own right in the genre, and he kind of sprinkled some of his fairy dust on our movie and finished it," he said.
Much like how the audience was worried about the sudden change in leadership, the cast was also affected. Affleck, along with the rest cast, previously aired their thoughts about the transition last month during an interview with SFX Magazine where they shared how the two directors' skills complement each other for the film.
"I think [Joss] was very fair to each and every one of us in terms of knowing that we know the characters best, and he gave us the freedom to be that way," said Gal Gadot who plays Wonder Woman in the film. "At the same time, he does bring his own talent and his vision to the movie. It was lovely working with him."
"Justice League" is set to be released on Nov. 16, 2018.
