Kate Upton Armpit Photoshop Fail, Fashion Magazine Under Fire
Kate Upton is the center of controversy surrounding images that appear to have been haphazardly Photoshopped.
The swimsuit model posed in a spread featured in Harper's Bazaar beside a pool surrounded by palm trees. In addition to the photos, the magazine featured Upton's trainer who revealed the model's work out regime. However, in one of the photos, Upton's entire armpit appears to be missing.
In the photo, Upton poses with one arm flung over her shoulder as she gazes into the sky while standing beside the pool. The only problem lies in the 21-year-old model's armpit, which appears to have a chunk missing from it that was filled with background scenery.
Oftentimes magazines resort to airbrushing when dealing with skin flaws, shadows or even hair that is out of place. But in Upton's case, Harper's Bazaar is said to have used Photoshop to conceal Upton's armpit sweat. The magazine is now under fire for retouching the photo, and readers are flooding social media sites with their outrage.
"The sad thing is, horrible photoshopping discredits the work of everyone who was involved w/this article," Melissa wrote on Twitter.
The Huffington Post tweeted, "Kate Upton gives us a new way to prevent armpit sweat… with this Photoshop fail."
"Ya know… I've said 'my dog could photo-shop better than that' and sometimes, I wonder," Shiloh added a link to Upton's photo. "They cut out her armpit!"
Meanwhile, the Harper's Bazaar article featured David Kirsch, a trainer to Upton as well as Liv Tyler, Heidi Klum and other starlets. The fitness guru answered questions about Upton who is one of the most recognizable models today.
"Everyone wants to know if she is disciplined with her diet and exercise and the answer is that she is amazing about the diet," he said. "She does a few egg whites with spinach for breakfast, and when she wants to, she does a 48-hour cleanse…. She has a very good sense of how she needs to eat for her body."
