A University of Colorado, Boulder freshman went on the "TODAY" show this morning to explain how she spilled yogurt on President Barack Obama on Tuesday.

Kolbi Zerbest, 19, spilled yogurt on President Obama and several of his secret service agents during a campaign stop at a restaurant in Boulder.

"As I'm shaking his hand, the paparazzi kick the bowl that I had placed on the ground onto the president. And it was mine, so, obviously I took the blame for it," Zerbest said.

"Technically (it) was my fault that I'd placed it there. But, I mean, I'm not the one who spilled it on him or kicked it on him, as some of the stories have been told," she added.

When the yogurt hit the president, Obama teased the young student saying, "Oh, look, you got me. You got me."

"I'm teasing. That's okay … getting yogurt on the president, you've got a story to tell," Obama told a surprised and embarrassed Zerbest.

When asked by the "TODAY" show's Matt Lauer how much yogurt actually landed on the commander-in-chief, Zerbest shared that Obama had in fact been spared from a majority of the spill.

"It wasn't a lot, honestly more got on me, the ground, and on the secret service," the college freshman said. "All in all, I'd say it was a pretty eventful and pretty memorable day for me."

President Obama was in Boulder for a speaking engagement at the Coors Event Center where he advocated for lower interest rates on student loans.

"I want this to forever be a country where everybody gets a fair shot," Obama told the crowd Tuesday evening.

"I'm only standing here today because of scholarships and student loans. It wasn't just that we worked hard. It's that someone made an investment in us," he added.
