LA Lakers Trade Rumors: Team To Trade Russell, Clarkson, Nance Jr. With Multiple Free Agents? Cousins A Strong Bet?

There have been a lot of talks concerning the possible Los Angeles Lakers trade options that the team will take before the February 18 midseason deadline. But one of the most resonating speculations circulating lately is apparently not of the present but of the offseason.

Bleacher Report recently cited sports pundit Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports Radio's The Herd saying that the franchise might be looking to give up its young, core players for more seasoned ballers.

According to Herd, "the Lakers would trade three of them." He added that the move would be to "move the other three," and refill the slots with "multiple free agents." The team, however, would likely to retain Julius Randle.

As to who might take off the yellow and purple jersey, BR said that rumors pointing to D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. are quite hard to believe.

However, a report from Inquistr.com indicated the possibility for the L.A. Lakers to call on for DeMarcus Cousins. The center is currently tied with the Sacramento Kings but the recent rumors say that Lakers might pull off a deal to sign him up for the aforementioned trade deadline.

As stipulated over at Inquisitr, Cousins could offer "some great leadership and talent" that a much older Roy Hibbert has been failing to pull off as of late.

Hibbert is averaging 6.9 points per game and 6.1 rebounds as of the current season. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old is averaging 24.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for Kings. The latter's performance could be a hindrance for Sacramento to give off the player despite his reported "bad attitude."

Tony Xypteras from Sac Town Royalty even said that this might not even be the right time to swap Cousins.

"I don't think the Kings should trade DeMarcus Cousins, and that isn't because I think he's untouchable, or untradeable, or any of that nonsense. It's just not the right move at this time," the site wrote.

Lakers is currently holding a record of 8-27 in the Western Conference.
